Can you find the names of 25 books of the Bible in this paragraph? This is a most remarkable puzzle. Someone found it in the seat pocket on a flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu, keeping himself occupied for hours. One man from Illinois worked on this while fishing from his john boat. Roy Clark studied it while playing his banjo. Elaine Victs mentioned it in her column once. One woman judges the job to be so involving, she brews a cup of tea to help calm her nerves. There will be some names that are really easy to spot . . . that’s a fact. Some people will soon find themselves in a jam, especially since the book names are not necessarily capitalized. The truth is, from answers we get, we are forced to admit it usually takes a minister or scholar to see some of them at the worst. Something in our genes is responsible for the difficulty we have. Those able to find all of them will hear great lamentations from those who have to be shown. One revelation may help, books like Timothy and Samuel may occur without their numbers. And punctuation or spaces in the middle are normal. A chipper attitude will help you compete. Remember, there are 25 books of the Bible lurking somewhere in this paragraph.

Yellow Ribbon Prison Run’10

I went to Singapore Changi Prison on Sunday, 5 Sep 2010 morning. No, I didn’t commit any crime. I was a volunteer at Yellow Ribbon Prison Run’10. I was assigned to be at the finish point which turned the prison field into a carnival ground. The heavy rain in the early morning didn’t dampen the spirit of the runners. There were break dancers, balloonists, face painter, bagpipers, singers, magicians, static displays and many more. You don’t feel that you are inside a prison compound. This run was widely publicized to achieve a target of 10,000 participants for the run. Eventually, about 7600 participated this year.

More than 10,000 ex-offenders are being released each year from prisons and drug rehabilitation centers. These ex-offenders face a second prison of being discriminated in our society.

The Yellow Ribbon Project has three goals:

  • To create Awareness of giving second chances to ex-offenders,
  • To generate Acceptance of ex-offenders and their families into the community,
  • To inspire Community Action to support the rehabilitation and reintegration of ex-offenders.

Mistakes made will implicate others around us. Being imprisoned will delay the journey to prosper. Crime really does not pay.

Teacher’s Day

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. What a difference a teacher can make. Teacher’s day is celebrated worldwide to remember our teachers. Many schools will organize activities to commemorate this day. Teachers are showered with gifts and wishes by students. My son and his ex-classmates have been visiting their ex-teachers annually at the Primary School they once studied. Some of my ex-classmates and I are still in contact with some of our ex-teachers even though we are in our fifties.

I was inspired by my teachers when young. There were many memorable events that I still remember. Without teachers, it will be very difficult to progress on this journey to prosperity.

Thank You Teachers!
