Autograph Book Rhymes

When I was young in primary school, getting teachers and classmates to write, draw and sign on your autograph book was very popular. The book came with many pages of different colors. I think this is a good practice to remember them. Maybe with social media, this form of practice may become obsolete. But, because of social media like Facebook, we are now feeling nostalgic about what were written on the autograph books. Many of the ex-classmates have grown up are eagerly sharing their memories.

Below are some rhymes that I still remember:

Rhyme 1

In this book of mine

I hope you don’t mind

To write a few lines

For me to remember you as years go by

Children’s Day 2011

This year, Children Day falls on Saturday 1st October 2011 in Singapore. Shopping malls, schools, and childcare centers will hold memorable events to allow children to enjoy. Children in Singapore are extremely fortunate to enjoy love and care from their parents. All parents will find it a joy to see their child grow up to be a responsible person. Children’s Day can be used as family bonding events for parents to be close to the children.

I’ve written some jokes for children. I hope they can enjoy them.

Child: Dad! What are you doing?

Dad: I’m painting the house.

Dad: No, you are still young.

Child: But, I’ve already prepared my coloring palette and brushes.

Child: My father plus my mother and then come out me from my mummy’s tummy

Child: Dad, why is it during Chinese New Year, a lot of things are red in color.

Dad: Red color represents blessings.

Child: Here is my report card of blessings. See, so many red marks.

Children Comparing Fathers

Child A: My father is very rich. I live in a big house. Every morning, he drives me to school in a big car.

Child B: My father is very strong. He can stop the traffic with one hand to help me cross the road.

Child A: Your father is superman.

Child B: No. My father is the school traffic warden.

Singapore Presidential Election 2011

In this Presidential Election 2011, I’ve observed that the number seven appears several times. Below is the list of observations:

1. Polling Day was on 27 August 2011.
2. Elected President Tony Tan’s is 71 years old at date of election.
3. His birth date is 7 February 1940.
4. His commonly used name Tony Tan consists of 7 characters.
5. His full name Tony Tan Keng Yam has 14 characters. The number 14 is a multiple of 7.
6. Number of votes more than Dr Tan Cheng Bock is 7269.
7. Percentage of margin won over Dr Tan Cheng Bock is 0.34; 3 plus 4 adds up to 7.

Dr Tan Cheng Bock could have won the Presidential Election if Tan Kin Lian and/or Tan Jee Say decided not to stand for election. The number seven gives Dr Tony Tan a special blessing to be Singapore seventh President.
